2 Purpose Introduction of IMLP Action Learning Advisor – Theresa Bolton Provide briefing on the IM Leadership Program (IMLP) Elicit IM Forum comments

3 IMLP Main Features Leveraging on IT Learning Continuum approach, tuned to CIOC feedback (Oct. 15, 02). New focus to developing leadership capacity –Emphasis on “action learning cohort” –Encourage continuous learning and sharing of knowledge and work practices through a “communities of practice” approach –From building management skills to focus on development of new IM “Domain” learning

4 IMLP Main Features cont’d Core Components: (still discretionary) –2 years duration –20 to 25 participants per cohort –Open to all 29 departments (& agencies?) –Action learning approach – group facilitation –Structured learning events –Departmental nomination/sponsorship –Participants remain in departments, 10% time spent in IMLP –Group facilitation –Individualized career counselling and coaching –Focus session on IM Leadership development held in March 2003

5 Target Audience (Potential agents for change) IM Directors & IM Dir. minus 1 IM professionals (core & newly emergent), practitioners, specialists in IM-centered practices (to include TBS IM Directors) “New” IM leaders / leaders in new IM jobs –establishing information strategies, policies standards, good practices –creating enterprise-wide information architecture to integrate internal / external info –managing information flows within core business process –supporting communities with highly relevant information –encouraging creativity through information –supporting the supply chain with content rich extranets
