Beginning 1990 : Started as a magazine ‘Bombay Dost’ 1994: Registered as a CBO in 1994 Strategic decision to work with Public Health Care Providers Strategic decision to work with the local and national government. 1999: Country’s Pilot Project with MSM & TG

Now Over 225 staff – 95% from MSM and TG community Diverse range of programs, some for specific sub- populations, some integrated Centre for Excellence : Independent research unit that helps shape our ongoing practice Advocacy unit to mainstream MSM and Tg issues Capacity Building of MSM and TG CBOs

Outreach education on safer sex practices and increasing awareness on STIs among MSM and Tg and HIV and AIDS Street Outreach

HST offers increased accessibility to high quality STI examination / treatment, HIV testing facilities HST links with Private Medical Practioners (PMPs) around hotspots to provide STI care and referrals for HIV testing STI and HIV Services

HST also provides general examination of routine illnesses to the MSM / TG Community at the HST Clinics HST counselors provide pretest and post test counselling to MSM and TG clients at HST clinics and its other referral linkages STI and HIV Services

Partner Notification HST encourages partner notification to MSM-PLWHA under its partner notification program

To meet the specific requirements of the MSM-PLWHA, HST initiated “Sanjeevani” a group formed by and for MSM-PLWHA Care, Support & Treatment

Safe space for positive men to meet and discuss their issues Initiate activities for getting family and community support Professional mental health support Sanjeevani

Initiating programs to promote healthy minds and healthy bodies Treatment of Opportunistic Infections (OIs) and enrollment in accessing ART Nutrition counseling and nutritive supplement support Sanjeevani

Clear sense of purpose Tried to accept projects from donors that fit squarely with this purpose Focused in setting and maintaining standards of quality in each component of our work Community Involvement at all levels Reflections
