They became Carmelites in Palestine The Carmelite Rule developed when they asked Albert, Patriarch of Jerusalem, for rules to live by Built an oratory for the Blessed Virgin and placed themselves under her patronage and protection

Use prayer, silence, and solitude Seek a life of peace with the Holy Trinity and the Eucharist Support themselves by their own labor Simple life Live under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Each member of the community spends time in solitude Come together as a community for liturgy, meals, and recreation Composed of priests and brother Rarely engage with otherrs out of the monastery

Incoming members must be between 20 and 40 Upon acceptance, new members receive a Carmelite habit and new name New member begins two year Novitate.
