Special Session on Crime In 1995 the Governor’s Office called for a Special Session on Crime that resulted in new laws that gave law enforcement officers new and innovative tools to combat crime. Integrated Justice Project Launched The Integrated Criminal Justice Project is initiated by the Governor’s Office of Administration to develop a strategic vision for electronic information exchange between justice and justice affiliated agencies. General Funds Allocated/Blueprint Created The Governor’s Office of Administration designated $11M in the General Fund Budget to begin building the Justice Network; the JNET Steering Committee was subsequently formed. In 1997, the JNET Blueprint was created and represented a high-level architectural outline for JNET. JNET Connectivity Established In 1999, the Steering Committee designates users within their agencies; connectivity and deployment begins. The Production Facility at the Commonwealth Technology Center is created. A total of 120 users are connected. Applications/Governance Implemented In May 1999, the Notifications system and the JNET Messaging Infrastructure are implemented. In June, the Governance Structure is created and the JNET Office is established at the State Police Headquarters. JNET begins rollout to fourteen pilot counties. By the end of the year, a total of 50 additional users are connected in Montgomery and Cumberland counties. Expanded Functionality and User Base Case file transfer, PennDOT photo images, and Live Post Transactions are implemented.
