National Children’s Task Force- Khulna

Background The NCTF is a children’s organization through which children themselves monitor the work of the National Plan of Action against SAECT’s (Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children including Trafficking) and make the duty bearers accountable. Through the NCTF, children work along with other organization to prevent sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking of children. Save the Children Australia, Bangladesh Shishu Academy and focal NGOs of 64 districts provide support and assistance to the NCTF.

Aim & objective of NCTF Aim of NCTF To establish the rights of every child according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Objectives of the NCTF: The objectives of the NCTF are to: observe and monitor how the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is implemented (at grass-roots, local and national levels) raise concerns about the child rights situation to responsible duty bearers at local and national levels create opportunities for equal participation of children from all strata of the society and ensure child participation in child-related issues, along with the senior people

Activity Jhumjhumi: “JHUMJHUMI” Is our quarterly publication about the present situation of child rights in Khulna district. Reporting, photography, editing all the works are done by the children of NCTF Khulna.

Challenges: We are facing so many challenges. These are: 1.A few number of activity. 2.Lack of regular central observation. 3.Weak network with other districts. 4.Not able to give emergency response. 5.Weak promotional activities. 6.Not have official orientation with govt. officials who are related with child rights. 7.Lack of necessary trainings etc.

Activities we want to do: We want to insure a great participation of children in various activities with our publication. We want to arrange Child Parliament at Khulna City Corporation. We want to open a hotline for the children of this district. We want to be involved with Creative activities like arts. We want expand our activities in grass-root levels. We want to build our capacity to take part in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Activities.
