 Taking out parts of an image  Why? ◦ To improve or change elements of the composition  Similar to editing and revising while writing.

 Visual arrangement of all the elements in a photograph.  Similar to mise-en-scene in films

 Telling a lit through a camera  Altering images so that they misrepresent the information presented.

 Method of retouching photographs in which dye is prayed on selected areas of the negative or the print.  “Photoshopping” is the new version of this!

 Various positions of the camera with respect to the subject being shot.

 Set of moral principles or values  Principles of conduct governing an individual or group

 What is the difference between the representations of the same image?  Why would someone choose to darken the picture of the person?  What is the message to you, the reader?  SHOULD a photographer follow a set of ethical standards? If so, what should those be?

 Should photos be changed or cropped?  Under what circumstances might cropping be appropriate or necessary?  What are some concerns about cropping too much content from a photograph?

 Why would we do this in a film class?  What is the point?
