Questions Jesus Asked… ________________, 2012

Questions Jesus Asked… As the Master Teacher, Jesus knew exactly what His audience needed to hear. It wasn’t always what they wanted to hear! They weren’t even always supposed to understand Him.

Questions Jesus Asked… One of the best teaching techniques Jesus employed was the use of questions. It is not simply a rhetorical technique – it is also initiates a cognitive process. When we read Jesus’ questions, we are not merely spectators of the event – we are part of it!

Questions Jesus Asked… From now on, whenever you come across a question in the Bible…answer it! The Scriptures are not merely historical or narrative documents, but they tell our story as well. Jesus asked numerous questions that we must answer – some of them you will see this morning…

Questions Jesus Asked…

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Are you spending most of your time tending to physical things or spiritual matters?

Ephesians 5:16 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

Questions Jesus Asked…

“Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”

Service “It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Service “When a person is down in the world, an ounce of help is better than a pound of preaching.” – Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton

Questions Jesus Asked…

Hebrews 6:1 “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God”

“Then Jesus answered and said, ‘O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you?’”

Questions Jesus Asked…

Luke 9:57-58 “Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, ‘Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.’ 58 And Jesus said to him, ‘Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.’”

Luke 9:59-60 “Then He said to another, ‘Follow Me.’ But he said, ‘Lord, let me first go and bury my father.’ 60 Jesus said to him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.’”

Luke 9:61-62 “And another also said, ‘Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.’ 62 But Jesus said to him, ‘No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’”

Questions Jesus Asked…

“When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, ‘Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?’ 14 So they said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’”

“Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.’ 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”

Questions Jesus Asked… “Could you not watch with Me one hour?” “Could you not watch with Me one hour?” “For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves?” “For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves?” “Do you not yet understand?” “Do you not yet understand?” “Do you also want to go away?” “Do you also want to go away?” “But who do you say that I am?” “But who do you say that I am?”
