SAMR Model

Note Taking Substitution: Take notes about chosen destination using iOS Notes. Augmentation: Take notes using Microsoft Word; insert pictures to replace words to enhance and represent themes. The pictures will represent the place selected to travel (food, activities, historical monuments, etc.). A text-to-speech system can also be used to improve the writing task. Modification: The notes will be put online (in a designated forum) to be reviewed by peers using questions and comments. Redefinition: Notes will be shared with teacher online or in a notebook. The teacher will have access to all student notes, including pictures selected for notes.

Researching Substitution: Using Google Chrome or Safari, research the destination chosen. Copy and paste information and pictures. Augmentation: A SMART Board can be used to replace pencil and paper to research and communicate ideas about location to travel. Modification: Using an iPad, download and annotate using Nobility. Be sure to include information gathered during the researching process. This may include: entertainment, transportation, arts and culture, etc. Redefinition: Using Google Earth, explore the location. Include interviews of residents or people who have traveled to the location before.

Presentation Substitution: Create a brief PowerPoint presentation of the destination. Augmentation: Design a brochure guide using MS Brochure creation tool. With this, you may hyperlink or embed content. Modification: The brochure guide should include student collaboration and multimedia, as well as student narration and videos. Redefinition: Use Google Hangouts to connect to a virtual tour of destination. Include information obtained in the brochure or guide. Share information in the online forum, with classmates, and the teacher.
