Academy Charter School Mission Statement Through the cooperation of parents, teachers and students, Academy Charter School will create a learning environment that fosters growth in character, high academic achievement, and the love of learning resulting in responsible, productive citizens. Vision Statement Academy Charter School provides a challenging academic program based on the Core Knowledge curriculum that promotes academic excellence, character development, and educational enthusiasm for its students.

ACS Overview Established 1993 Current building opened September 2001 Serving 544 Students K-8 Serving 137 Students in our Home School Support Program-3 locations 54 full-time staff; 23 part-time staff Core Knowledge Curriculum Spanish Program, K-8 Core Virtues & Second Step Program Strong Parent Volunteerism

Alignment Efforts with End Responsible Citizens Core Knowledge Curriculum The comprehensive K-8 Core Knowledge curriculum and the implementation of lessons within each subject develop critical thinking, logic and decision-making skills. Homework, projects and school-wide events provide opportunities for students to apply learning, demonstrate resourcefulness & self-motivation

Alignment Efforts with End Responsible Citizens The comprehensive Core Knowledge Scope & Sequence fosters the development of essential skills around a core body of knowledge. The ACS vision mandates a well-rounded education that, in addition to core skills, includes foreign language (Spanish), the Fine Arts, Technology, Physical Education and Health. Core character virtues are taught and modeled throughout the broader school community. Extracurricular activities and athletics round out the educational environment at ACS.
