Presentation transcript:

Reduce! We reduce our energy and water use by turning off!

The LIGHT BRIGADE monitors who switched off and who’s switched on!

We are trying to reduce paper waste by writing on both sides, printing less and photocopying double-sided.

We write a message on a board rather than sending lots of Christmas cards. The money we save for not buying cards goes to charity.

Reuse! We try to reuse many things. Ink cartridges can be filled and used again.

Old car tyres… …make brilliant flower pots.

We refill and reuse washing-up-liquid bottles, washing powder containers and drinking bottles.

Recycle! We recycle: paper cardboard glass cans & tins batteries printer cartridges textiles old mobile phones We make our own compost and grow vegetables for our meals. We all help empty the recycling containers regularly.

…And we are having fun making things out of recyclables and selling them to raise money! Old bottles make birdfeeders. Crisp packets make keyrings. Socks make puppets. Jars make pen holders. Adverts make envelopes. CDs make photo frames. …and many more.

It’s taken 5 years… …lots of people …lots of good ideas …some fundraising …building contacts and links …keen pupils and staff …commitment and enthusiasm… …and there is still lots more to be done!
