Name: Year: FACTS ABOUT THE BOOK OF JUDGES AUTHOR: Anonymous DATE WRITTEN: B.C. PURPOSE: What we fail to learn by history we must learn by faithful experience MAJOR THEMES: Apostacy, Oppression, Repentance, Deliverance KEY MESSAGE: The Book of Judges is about a time in the life of Hebrews before they had a King. When they needed to make decisions, the Hebrews went to a judge, a national leader. A judge was sort of like a King except he had no castle, crown & there was no bowing- just leadership. During the time of Judges, the Hebrews relationship with God went up & down like a morality yo-yo. They would obey God when they had a good judge. Then that judge would die and the people would fall down. Then another judge would come and they would clean up their act again. The Book of Judges will introduce us to many Godly Characters and show us that God never leaves those who follow Him.
