Digital Citizenship By Bhavna

Plagiarism Plagiarism is illegal and can get you arrested. If a teacher finds out you used plagiarism he/she can fail you. If you need to research a topic you give the writer a copyright and use your own words in whatever you need to write. You need to give copyright whenever you use someone else’s words, quotations, or paragraphs. You also need to use copyright if something is not something you already know and if you are using a picture or video online that is not yours. Teachers can tell what your writing looks like, what words you use, and what you already know. Do not think that you can use plagiarism and your teacher will never find out. Remember that plagiarism can get you arrested.

Cyber bullying Cyber bullying is not ok. Sometimes you might think someone is cyber bullying you, but you could have read their message or comment wrong. You cannot tell the way someone is talking online. You can ask that person in real life if you know them and if you don’t feel comfortable going alone you can ask a friend to come with you. Always tell someone you trust if you are being cyber bullied. If you don’t tell someone the bullying will continue. If you do tell someone they can help you. You should never cyber bully someone else. Just because you don’t say something to someone’s face it doesn’t mean it will hurt less. Don’t keep quiet if someone tells you they are being cyber bullied. If someone tells you they are being cyber bullied you can tell an adult. Stand up to cyber bullying

Piracy Piracy is illegal. Don’t use piracy because you can get arrested. Downloading or watching things you are not allowed to from a site that does not have permission from the creators of the actual makers of whatever you are watching can get you into a lot of trouble. Piracy involves downloading movies, music or games off the internet. Piracy is using someone else’s hard work and copying it. Piracy is when you don’t pay but are still downloading the items someone else paid for. Piracy is very wrong and is considered illegal. Always remember to only use something from a certified site.

Identity Theft Identity theft is illegal and wrong. You need to be careful to not put important things in the garbage. You should never recycle or throw away your bills or important papers. If you want to be eco friendly you can shred these papers an then recycle them. People who want to steal your identity are looking for your full name, bank account information, passport information, pin number, signature, and your address. Remember that identity theft can happen to anyone. If you are not careful you can lose all your money and all your personal items. If identity theft happens to you someone can make accounts or accounts as you or tell people they are you. This way you can lose everything and those people can do bad things and you will get in trouble.

Hacking Hacking can happen to anyone. Hacking is when someone goes into your electronic items and can get all your stuff. Hacking can happen if you tell someone your passwords or passcodes and they go onto your items or even if someone tries to use their electronics to hack onto your items. If you have your personal information like your pin number, your bank account information, or your credit card information on your electronics it can all be stolen. If all your personal info gets stolen you can lose your money and all your stuff.
