Describe a situation that you enjoyed this week. Why did you like it? Warm-up Describe a situation that you enjoyed this week. Why did you like it?

1. What does it mean to be healthy? Being healthy means many things, including having a fit body, feeling well, feeling good about yourself, and getting along with others.

2. Name the three parts of the health triangle and list 2 aspects. Physical: Taking care of your body; eating a balanced food plan; being physically active. Mental/Emotional: Liking and accepting yourself; expressing feelings and emotions in healthy ways; having a positive attitude; being able to handle stress. Social Health: Getting along with others; caring and supporting friends and family members; communicating well; and showing respect.

3. Why is it important to keep your health triangle balanced? Keeping your health triangle balanced will make you a healthy person.

4. Explain why wellness is more than just being healthy. Wellness is an overall state of well-being, or total health. To achieve wellness, you need to make good health a part o your daily routine and make choices that promote good health now and in the future.

5. How does intellectual wellness affects your overall health 5. How does intellectual wellness affects your overall health? What can people do to improve it? Intellectual Wellness is the ability to open our minds to new ideas and experiences that can be applied to personal decisions, group interaction and community betterment. To improve it a person should keep an open mind and be willing to be a life- long learner.

6. How does spiritual wellness affect your overall health? Spiritual Wellness is the ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives. It is important for everyone to explore what they believe is their own sense of meaning and purpose.

7. How does environmental wellness affect your overall health 7. How does environmental wellness affect your overall health? What can a person do to improve it? Environmental Wellness is the ability to recognize our own responsibility for the quality of the air, the water and the land that surrounds us.

8. List 2 ways a person can be intellectually well, spiritually well, and environmentally well. Spiritual Wellness- meditation, prayer, affirmations, or specific spiritual practices that support your connection to a higher power or belief system, or Yoga. Environmental Wellness- Community Service, recycle, pick up garbage Intellectual Wellness- Explore new/different things, be open minded, keep going to school

9. What are lifestyle factors? Lifestyle factors are behaviors and habits that help determine a person’s level of health and wellness.

10. Identify three examples of positive lifestyle factors. Eating well-balanced meals, starting with a good breakfast, getting 60 minutes of physical activity a day, sleeping at least 8 hours a night, avoiding tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, following rules of safety.

11. Explain why a sedentary lifestyle is a risk behavior. A sedentary lifestyle is a risk behavior because it is a way f life that includes little physical activity. Sitting in front of a computer or tv becomes a risk when it continually replaces sports or other physical activities.

12. Explain why abstinence from risk behaviors is a wise choice for teens. Abstinence from risk behaviors is a wise choice for teens because it shows that you are responsible and that you respect yourself, Abstinence also benefits all three sides of your health triangle.
