No Child Left Behind Comenius multilateral project

EuroEd Foundation Iasi – Romanian partner in the project Project activities and contributions

Baseline study SWOT analysis developed in Romania, mainly in the North-East area, where Iasi is situated Devising a set of tools for a survey in all partner countries – questionnaires for stake holders (county boards of education, schools and NGOs), discussing them with partners, agreeing upon final form and distributing them. Agreeing with UK partner upon the template for students’ questionnaires and discussing them with partners. Agreeing on the types and minimum number of institutions to address the questionnaires to.

Research survey Learning Support Strategy – a study of the policy and practice in Romania with regard to extra- curricular activities, their extent and their role in motivating students for further achievement – material elaborated in cooperation with the Iasi County Board of Education (Romanian and English versions) Presenting the material at the London meeting (June 2008). Compiling and presenting a set of guidance notes for country surveys to be done by partners for the main research pack.

Questionnaire Surveys Respondents to questionnaires in Romania: 17 school representatives 11 NGOs 675 pupils aged Interpreting the results and sending the survey results to partners and coordinator.

Compiling the Survey Report Collecting information for the research pack from partners (survey from Poland and the UK, from Spain a survey from a focus group and from Lithuania a material on Children’s clubs) Collating the information in a survey report entitled Non-formal learning practice in five countries, at present posted on the project site.

Selection of case studies Identifying examples of good practices in the field of extra-curricualr activities, mainly those based on volunteering Discussing with activity organizers Working with trainers/ teachers to make clear the requirements of the template for the case studies presentations Selecting the case studies to be presented to partners Translation into English and presentation during the meeting in Seville

Curriculum and syllabus Discussing and agreeing with partners upon the template of the curriculum and syllabus for the training pack as presented by Spain. Developing materials for Module 2 of the Training pack Module 3: Meeting young people’s needs to help them become life- long learners and good citizens ( focusing on identifying potential through cultivating the theory of multiple intelligences and learning styles, group psychology, active citizenship, volunteer conduct and actions)

Training pack 1 Structure and Contents of Module 2 as presented in Vilnius: Part 1 – Learning styles at work Part 2 – Group Roles Part 3 – Strategies in solving conflicts Part 4 – Self –esteem Part 5 – Active citizenship Part 6 – Child protection Part 7 - Enriching volunteering experience

Training pack 1 Discussing materials for Training pack 1 with partners + agreeing upon changes Module 2 becomes Module 3, as it enters more into the training content than the one that follows it. Drafting the syllabus for Pilot 1. Agreeing with partners upon Syllabus materials for Pilot 1. Translating a selection of materials for Pilot 1.

Pilot 1 Organizing and delivering the training course for 20 participants at the end of May – 40 hours training including individual work for the Personal development portfolio. Collecting a set of materials presented by participants (NCLB Portfolio) Feedback + testimonials sent to partners.

Changes after Pilot 1 Discussing the feedback from participants to Pilot 1 in all countries and their possible impact on the materials during the meeting in Iasi; Agreeing upon changes, mainly due to the reaction from British trainers, who prefer a set of materials which do not look as restrictive as a “curriculum” and a “syllabus” usually do. Re-shaping the Training kit so as to look more flexible and less restrictive for the users. Reorganizing the material into Stages and reviewing ways of ensuring embedded flexibility and creativity from the part of the future users.

Training Kit for booklet + CD Developing the new set of materials so that to ensure clear correspondence between Objectives, Content, Presentations, Activities and other Support materials which should appear in a user-friendly way. Contributing to the Introduction for the booklet and for the project presentation. Translating materials into Romanian. Working with UK partner at the final draft - checking / double – checking for errors; Collaboration with UK IT specialist on the materials to be presented on CD: making suggestions for layout and organization; spotting errors and things to be improved.
