European Year of Citizens 2013: Eurodesk focuses on citizens’ rights and, in particular, the right2move and opportunities to use the right right2move campaign with online and onsite activities, e.g. Facebook poster competition, online quiz, Youth Week activities and a toolkit for Eurodesk partners and multipliers Part of the toolkit: right2move information session Based on our experience with “…so you think you know it all?” (SYTYKIA) and “Help Yourself by Helping Others” (HYHO) SYTYKIA started in 2007 as pilot project, since then hundreds of awareness sessions involving over young people took place across Europe

We offer material and methodologies for delivering right2move sessions locally. An overall structure is provided and you are encouraged to adapt and enhance it by your own successful methods.

Running time: 1,5 – 2 h Number of participants: people (target age: years) Objectives –To identify and understand EU citizens’ rights, in particular the right2move and other cross-border mobility rights –To get familiar with key mobility opportunities for young people –To be able to make an informed decision to pursue own mobility action, if they wish so Material: –(Information poster), printed copies of participants’ resource, evaluation form and travel tags, flipchart and pens, photo camera, overview on concrete opportunities, (video and technical equipment), (additional leaflets)

Stage 1. Your rights as EU citizen Begin with the participants’ knowledge of EU citizenship and the rights associated with it. In discussion, explore their own experience and experience of friends and families with the right2move. Summarize the key facts. Stage 2. How to use your right2move? Introduce European opportunities for young people to intern, learn, train, volunteer or work abroad. Try to involve peer reports. Encourage discussion on interesting issues, such as key requirement, and the possible benefits of learning mobility. Stage 3. Take action! Discuss the participants’ thoughts on the kind of activity they would like to do. Then explore what to do about it, what to do first and who can help. To end the session, let’s make a commitment to use the right2move. Evaluation

Stage 1. Your rights as EU citizen -Open the topic with (the poster and) the quiz, then discuss the answers with the group -Discuss the concrete effects of citizens’ rights on people’s lives, e.g. through own personal experience or those of friends and families of the participants -Summarize the key facts to remember about the right2move and other relevant cross-border rights

Stage 1. Your rights as EU citizen - Material Participants’ resource with quiz and space to note own experience and key information on the right2move Quiz answers and background information are provided for tutors

Stage 2. How to use your right2move -Give an overview on concrete opportunities relevant for the participants -Present a peer report and/or video showing personal experiences -Encourage discussion on different opportunities and the benefits of learning abroad

Stage 2. How to use your right2move - Material Participants’ resource with space to note information on different opportunities to work, learn, volunteer, intern or train abroad Information panel to present opportunities is available in the Eurodesk Intranet, partners need to maintain it with information relevant for their target group

Stage 3. Take action! -Target the general discussion from stage 2 towards a possible mobility action (e.g. volunteer or train abroad?) -Assist to develop a concrete 2do list, e.g. whom to contact, where to go to find out more -Let participants chose a travel tag to commit to their personal mobility action … and smile for the camera!

Stage 3. Take action! - Material 2do list on participants’ resource 5 different travel tags (volunteer, intern, train, learn or work)
