Living in the U.S.

First of all, the “honeymoon”stage

Everything seems new, quaint and novel.

The food, the surroundings, the buildings.

And it produces feeling of euphoria, a desire to look around, to experiment, to explore.

The next stage is the “horror” stage.

Real life Where the newness wears off and you see the country in a different light and often begin to criticize the country, the life and the values of the people.

The weather

The rhythm of the life

The holidays

Family & friends

It didn't go as I expected in the U.S. and then I just felt lonesome and impatient.

Especially it was dark with rain every day, so America was cool to me.

The laws and idiom

I feel like a prisoner

Nostalgic, tired, confused.

The next stage, is the “humor” stage.

Where the people begin to reflect back and laugh at their mistakes in the earlier stages.

When I came to the railroad crossing, I thought that I had to stop every time. When I did, the driver behind me beeped the horn. I was so ashamed because nobody stops before crossing the railroad crossing.

And the final stage.

 Is “Home” stage where people begin to feel at home, enjoy living in that foreign country.  We don’t have a picture for this because everybody here can show this.

 This kind of feeling is not only for the immigrants, it’s for all the people who need to change their habits, customs, school, city, house, etc…
