CMM ESL PD day Monday 21 st June 2010 Occupational Health and Safety in pre-employment and employment learning programs - a number of units can be incorporated into ESL programs, however BSBOHS201A Participate in the OHS processes is a popular choice. The CMM General Studies has commissioned the development of a resource which will provide learning and assessment tools for the unit - BSBOHS201A Participate in the OHS processes for a range of learners across the General Studies Curricula, including English as a Second Language learners.

CMM ESL PD day Monday 21 st June 2010 The aim is to develop a resource that the can be adapted to meet the needs of a range of learners across the General Studies Curricula, including English as Second Language learners The tool will focus on literacy and numeracy requirements of the unit and include integrated assessment processes which build on these literacy and numeracy requirements.

CMM ESL PD day Monday 21 st June 2010 A draft resource has been developed that includes a: Learners Guide Learner’s Workbook Case studies of good practice Assessment Pack: Overview of Assessment tasks Assessment tools Assessment outcome records Mapping of assessment tasks to: elements, PCs, knowledge and skills, critical aspects of evidence and employability skills. This workshop will provide an overview of the resources and seek input from practitioners delivering OHS units to English as a Second Language learners.

Who do we delivery OHS training to? What are their interests in and need for OHS training? Do these learners have identified special needs? What are some of the difficulties in delivery OHS content? Which delivery and assessment strategies have been found to be effective? What would you expect from an effective learning and assessment resource?
