Real to Abstract 5th Grade

Bring a good eraser. Follow directions to draw a generic human face with classic proportions. Chalk the skin tones.

5 Abstract Face View Pablo Picasso’s “First Steps”Discuss the meaning of abstraction Discuss why artists abstract Discuss techniques that cubists use to abstract Watch David Hockney portion of “Behind the Scenes” DVD Sketch 5 abstract faces (finish for homework- put list of techniques on wiki). Limit colors if needed to help the composition. Draw final on heavier paper. Choose media appropriately, use chalks or paints to color large areas first; do details last with marker, crayon or colored pencil. Mount and attach a plastic flip-back label that shows your understanding of the cubist techniques.
