14 Role: Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing Where I Work: Hospital with Over 250 beds Who I Report To: Chief Executive Officer Who Reports to Me: All Nursing Service Employees Background: Masters Degree in Nursing/Administration Current RN Licensure 10 years experience in nursing management at administrative level with demonstrated leadership and management skills.

15 My Main Job Functions  I organize, assess, implement, and maintain a nursing service that will meet the requirements of the accrediting agency, Federal and State agencies, the healthcare institution and the professional community.  Direct all Nursing Service Employees.  Participate with the CEO, the hospital board, management, and medical staff in developing the hospital's mission, strategic plans, operational plans and policies.  Coordinate ancillary services in their roles to interface in patient care.  Collaborate with Finance and other departments to achieve institutional financial goals.  Carry out the leadership responsibilities for other Departments as determined by the CEO.

16 My Goals for Evidence-Based Practice Top Goals Include: 1.Implement evidence-based practice within the healthcare organization to improve practice, patient outcomes, and patient safety 2.Provide quality care in a cost effective manner across the healthcare organization 3.Be able to audit/evaluate/ adjust quality improvement programs and outcome related activities 4.Educate the staff on EBP principles including critically appraising the evidence and systematic reviews 5.Comply with requirements from accreditation, federal and state bodies including The Joint Commission, American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the State

How often do you audit your policies? 3.Does your staff conduct quality improvement projects and outcome studies? How often?
