Course aims  Provide students with basic information about EU structural funds and other important sources of finances Areas: regional development, education, employment, cross border cooperation etc.)  Key principles how to prepare a successful application (project)  how to manage the project when approved  and how to apply the information when preparing own project

Course characteristics  The course is very practically oriented  By the project preparation project managers from Slovak ministries, institutions, NGOs (EEA) shall help  Internship in EEA – financially rewarded – certificate

Requirements  To participate at lectures and seminars max. number of absences = 2 (no matter of reason) to be prepared + active at seminars study all assigned sources before the lesson why it is necessary to ask questions? to be late for the lesson 10 minutes at max  To submit the project application  To make a presentation

Final project requirements  Final project = application for project financing prepared in the format that it can be submitted before the application deadline  project has to be realistic, i. e. a concrete institution has to be able to realize the project (a village, a school, a NGO, a company)  students capitalize also language skills

Development of student skills  critical and analytical thinking  ability to apply theory in praxis  reliability, creativity and originality  presentation skills  ability to finish duty on time  ability to communicate  fundraise money for own project

Making use of your knowledge  Fundraising for own projects  Getting a job as a project manager in a company, NGO, village/ town, association, at school, at the ministry  Learning good working habits, experience and self-confidence

 Activities and assessment

Assignment 1: Presentation The most important information about the project call:  Aims  Supported activities, Eligible applicants  Examples of approved projects  Maximal and minimal financial contribution  Deadline etc.

Assignment 1: Presentation  15 points: excellent presentations, do not exceed the given time, clearly and comprehensibly characterize the project call, can answer the questions of colleague students and the teacher  8 points: presentations which miss some important information or present less crucial information, exceed / do not use given the time,  0 points: extraordinary weak presentations where student manifests lack of knowledge of the topic.

Assignment 2: Final project 70 points (max):  Student has prepared the project mostly with his/her efforts, just with little help of project manager  He/she was active, contacted the project manager, prepared drafts within negotiated deadlines, communicated promptly  Project aims and necessity are clearly and briefly explained, the schedule is realistic, project sustainability and the role of the partners are convincingly explained
