How to check your homework that involves graphing. Locate the x-intercept and the y-intercept on your graph to see if it matches the answer key.

30. y = x y = x – 434. y = -2x x + y = x + y = 540. x = 2

The equation y = 0.62x describes the approximate number of miles y in x kilometers. 1.Describe what the solution (8, 4.96) means. 2.About how many miles is a 10-kilometer race? 3. Mr. Fish is running a half-marathon (13.1 miles) this spring. How many kilometers would that be?

During a workout, a target heart rate y in beats per minute is represented by y = 0.7(220 – x), where x is a persons age. 1.Compare target heart rates for a 20 year old and a 50 year old. 2.What would your target heart rate be?

Section 8.3 Graphing Linear Equations Using Intercepts

State the x -intercept and the y -intercept of the line.

Find the x -intercept and the y -intercept for the graph of : 4y = -3x + 24 y = 4x

Home Repair Renata Jones has $300 for home repairs. A plumber charges her $50 an hour. The equation y = -50x represents the amount of money left in her budget after x number of plumbing hours. Use the intercepts to graph the equation.

Shopping Suzanne has $125 to spend on new shoes. The shoe store is having a sale in which every pair of shoes is priced at $25. The equation y = -25x +125 represents the amount of money Suzanne has left after purchasing x pairs of shoes. Use the intercepts to graph the equation.
