2 ARE-ON Mission Statement The mission of ARE-ON is to promote, develop and apply advanced communications technologies to support and enhance education, research, public service and economic development. Goals and Objectives: Facilitate and accelerate the adoption of advanced communications technologies among our members. Provide reliable, cost effective access to the advanced communication technologies and services required by our members. Establish a leadership role for ARE-ON members in the use of advanced communications technologies for research, teaching and learning. Increase collaboration among our members and with regional, national, and international initiatives. Enhance the abilities of our members to foster economic development opportunities within their service areas. Secure grant funding to support our mission and goals.

Research on large-scale data archives at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences can be performed on supercomputers across the state to improve health care for all Arkansans. As demand grows, smaller resources can be placed at other institutions.
