ENVIRONMENT the circumstances or conditions that surround an organism or group of organisms. The Habitable Planet Unit 1 - Many Planets, One Earth

WHAT DO WE ALREADY KNOW? All life uses basic resources to allow cells, tissues, & organisms to survive: food for body building blocks food for energy H2O O2 environmental resources for shelter/habitat

All life creates waste products (normal cell processes): CO2 solids H2O used products and technology

3. Living things are connected to ‘neighbours’ in the ecosystem through: food webs abiotic (non-living) factors other community interactions

4. As populations increase: need for resources increases waste products increase
