Intro to LinMot HAVE A NICE DAY !!!

Intro to LinMot A Presentation by LinMot, Inc.

Intro to LinMot# 2 Some LinMot Basics LinMot based near Zurich, Switzerland. LinMot’s parent company is NTI AG. LinMot was started in 1993 to bring their Linear Motor Technology to the global marketplace. Here in the US, LinMot’s North American Office is located in Elkhorn, WI. Most products are stocked in Elkhorn, WI. This allows for 1 or 2 day delivery.

Intro to LinMot# 3 LinMot Products Linear Motors, Mounting Flanges, Guided Actuators, Servo Drives, Power Supplies and Cables

Intro to LinMot# 4 Linear Motors

Intro to LinMot# 5 What Makes ‘Em Great! Strokes up to 60” (5 feet) ± 0.002” repeatability Forces up to 550 pounds peak Speeds up to 200 inches per second (16 ft/sec) Accelerations up to 100 g’s Lifetime of up to 2 BILLION CYCLES Rugged construction (wash down) Temperature range of 140°F to 0°F (60°C to - 20°C). Great for freezers where pneumatics freeze up! Saves energy.

Intro to LinMot# 6 Even Hollow Rods

Intro to LinMot# 7 Strokes Up To 5 feet On the short end, we have customers using these with a stroke of 0.040” (1mm). They happen to be moving at 120 Hz! If it’s a short horizontal move, the slider will support itself and a light load. For longer moves, or where there’s a substantial mass that needs to be supported, we have guided actuators. If it’s a long horizontal move, the load needs to be supported.

Intro to LinMot# 8 Long Moves or Heavy Loads The load (and the slider) need to be supported.

Intro to LinMot# 9 These Are Guided Actuators Strokes to 16” (420mm) Forces to 131 pounds Oil-Lite Bushings or Recirculating Ball Bearings Use bushings for wet/dirty environment or fast accel. Use ball bearings for longer life in clean environments.

Intro to LinMot# 10 These are B-Guides Oil-Lite Bushings or Recirculating Ball Bearings. These require “High Clearance” sliders.

Intro to LinMot# 11 These are G-Guides Strokes up to 5½ feet. Recirculating Ball Bearings only.

Intro to LinMot# 12 G-Guide Application Comes as a “kit” – some assembly required. Customer provides cable track.

Intro to LinMot# 13 You Don’t Have To Move the Slider Some examples of “Moving Stator” configurations. LinMot provides kits for mounting the slider properly.

Intro to LinMot# 14 Where Are LinMot Motors Used? Packaging Material Handling Medical Other Let’s look in detail.

Intro to LinMot# 15 Packaging Label application Stamping Dispensing Especially if wash down is required Winding Carton assembly Product insertion Gluing

Intro to LinMot# 16 Material Handling Pick and place Reject product bumpoff Cutting Stacking Product compression Machine vision inspection Sorting

Intro to LinMot# 17 Medical Liquid dispensing Sample handling

Intro to LinMot# 18 Other Product testing It’s sometimes hard to find components that last as long as what’s being tested. LinMot does!

Intro to LinMot# 19 Some Not-So-Good Applications Metal Machining Ferrous metal chips stick to the magnetic slider High temperature (above 140°F/60°C) Where there’s sticky stuff Especially if it only gets sticky when the motor is off, like when it dries or cools (chocolate is a good example)

Intro to LinMot# 20 That’s It!! Any other questions? If you haven’t seen it already, let’s watch a movie! The End (of this one, anyway)
