What is Monsanto Company? Monsanto Company is a corporation that studies agricultural biotechnology. The company is the leading producers of Genetically Engineered Seeds, and of the herbicide glyphosate. In 1901, John Francis Queeny founded Monsanto Company. They originally created food additives, like Vanillin. A lot of foods have Vanillin, like Nutella. This is why you need to check the ingredients on the food you eat. Vanillin is a food additive that tastes like Vanilla, but is not pure vanilla. It is even grown in Madagascar, in a pod, with beans, like vanilla.

What does Monsanto do? Monsanto was one of the first companies to genetically modify a plant cell in 1983.They were also the first company to test on a open field genetically modified crops. Their techniques came from Genentech, along with other companies.

Non-Fun Facts About Monsanto Monsanto passed a law that said companies cannot put the GMO label on the foods that we eat. They said this because they don’t think that it is important. This is dangerous because 70%of foods in the United States have GMO additives in them. There is a policy called the Anti-Consumer Right To Know Policy that states that GMO labels don’t have to be put on foods, and GMO chemicals do not have to be tested for safety reasons. GMO’s can cause NEW food allergies.

Where is Monsanto Located? Monsanto is located in St. Louis, Missouri, but has other offices around the world. GMO’s are banned in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland,Romania, Switzerland, India,Croatia, Belgium, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Serbia, and Turkey.

My conclusion My conclusion is to watch out for what you eat. STAY CLEAR OF ANY MONSANTO COMPANIES! Look at the ingredients in your food. (Stay clear of Vanillin, also.) If you can, find out where your food has been. Even though it is expensive, try to get all organic foods. Just because something says all natural, doesn't mean that it is good for you. Look for these tags on your foods:
