Government  Judicial Under the 1999 constitution, the Supreme Court has both original and appellate jurisdictions, has the sole authority and jurisdiction to entertain appeals from Court of Appeal, having appellate jurisdiction over all lower federal courts and highest state courts. Decisions rendered by the court are binding on all courts in Nigeria except the Supreme Court itself.

Government  Legislative House of Representatives: Have 360 members which are elected for a 4 year term. Senate: Has 109 members elected for a four year term. A bill must be agreed by both senate and house before becoming a law.

Government  Executive Head of State = Head of Government = President Powers include signing bills, summoning national assembly, appointing commissions of inquiry, conferring honours, and pardoning offenders.

Government  Political parties People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria: has a neoliberal stance in its economic policies and maintains a conservative stance on certain social issues, such as same sex relations. All Nigeria People’s Party: right-wing conservative party with mass appeal. The party draws its strength predominantly from Northern Nigeria.

Government  Political Parties Alliance for Democracy: Progressive opposition political party in Nigeria. Founded 1998 and was embroiled in a major tussle which eventually led to its merge to form the Action Congress Party.

Culture  Ethnicities Ethnic identities of Nigeria: Hausa- Fulani, Igbo, and Yoruba. Local ethnic conflicts affects policy outputs such as the construction of necessary buildings because some ethnicities don’t use them.
