Location See maps Shitan is 6 hours drive from Chengdu.

Accomodation Staying in a guest house. One western toilet and one semi alfresco shower

Food and Drink Food is going to be provided by the local school kitchen. Food tends to be spicy. Noodles for breakfast – take some snacks.

Alcohol Alcohol is a part of the culture a whole system of behaviours surround drinking and toasting.

Electricity Please buy yourself a China adaptor. The guest house has electricity but there may be some disruptions to power.

Water Drink bottled water only which will be provided. Remember when cleaning your teeth.

Health and Hygiene Good medical facilities in the main town. Few facilities in the village. Lots of traditional medicine. Check with own surgery if you need any jabs.

Clothing Dress modestly Have a set of clothes for the worksite. Take a light weight rain coat. Wear sunglasses Warm jacket for the evening.

Communications Free Wi-Fi in Chengdu and other cities. Little communication in the village Mobile phones calls sometimes work. Guest house was trying to get wife but don’t expect it.

Personal Safety Have a good anti- virus. Don’t use an which shows your history. Don’t carry large amounts of money. Know the name of your hotel and carry it on a card. Aid We do not need to take aid. Please take activities for groups of children: arts and crafts etc.

Language A number of websites exist to learn some key words. Mandarin is the main language. es/chinese
