Nothing But the Truth Final Assessment Please read and follow the directions carefully in order to get the maximum grade possible. Step 1- You will choose three of following characters from the story NBTT: Miss NarwinDr. PalleniDr. Doane Philip MalloyTed Griffen Jennifer Stewart Mr. and Mrs. MalloyDr. Albert Seymour Step 2 - Create a graphic organizer (any type) with the following information: 1. What these people's roles were in allowing the "lie" to continue and grow. 2. Give at least 3 examples from the book to back up each person’s actions. 3. One example of a graphic organizer

Nothing But the Truth Final Assessment Step 3- Using the graphic organizer, write up the information related to your characters and their actions as a newspaper article. You should have the following elements in your news story: Catchy Title Your name and the name of your newspaper Do not make it sound like a remix of the story from the book. It should be as if you were another reporter and got other information. Your news article should be about 5 paragraphs in length with an intro., a paragraph for each person, and a conclusion. (Similar to this story) Draw or find a picture to go with your article. Credit where you got it. computerguysit.com

Step 4: Take your completed news story (be sure you format it to look like an actual newspaper article and save it as a picture file (.jpeg). Do the same with your graphic organizer or save it as an able file. (So you are sending me two things) You will have class time to work so you should be able to get it all done in class. Attach the files to an and send it to No late work will be accepted or given any credit on this assessment. Due by March 28 th. Come in at lunch or recess if you have any questions or problems. REMEMBER: it should be as if you uncovered the real story as a reporter and are letting the public know who was really responsible, and how the lie was able to keep going.

Was He Really Being Patriotic Or Was It All A Lie? Philip Malloy, a 9 h grader that used to be a student in New Hampshire at the Harrison High School but is now a student from the Washington Academy, a private school, and used to be patriotic at the Harrison High School, but now we know, according to the Washington Academy, that he does not even know the words for the United States' national anthem. Mr. Duval, a news Reporter from New Hampshire that had interviewed Margaret Narwin that is now in Florida with her sister and is thinking of resigning, had said that Phillip Malloy, that was a student of the Harrison High School, was disrupting class and being disrespectful. There was no rule that said “No singing while the national anthem was played”, the teacher was just asking for silence and respect while the national anthem was played. But the kid, Philip Malloy, was not paying attention to the teacher knowing that the teacher was talking to him. Philip Malloy did not like Miss Narwin and was failing her class. He used to say that everyone hated Miss Narwin but it was not true. Miss Narwin was a master teacher and the students liked her. Philip Malloy ruined Margaret By: Min Young Lee - Washington School News Narwin’s career. Philip Malloy wanted to be in the track team but he could not join the team because he was failing her class. He could have done a little bit of work and there would’ve not been any problem. Philip Malloy who was in Miss Narwin's homeroom, got transferred to another homeroom after the incident. We know that Ted Griffen, who was Phillip Malloy’s neighbor and now is in the school board in New Hampshire, used to give speeches when the incident happened and we now know that Dr. Seymour had said that everything was Miss Narwin’sfault so he could get the school budget. It didn’t help him in anything because he didn’t get the school budget. Philip Malloy, the one that we thought was the victim, is now the one that needs to be accused of the incident. Miss Narwin, the one that we thought was the bad guy, is now the victim now that we discovered all the true story.

By: Cristian Minondo Stauderd The Daily Minondo staff writer May 7 th 2013 Orlando, Florida e-a-liar-always-a-liar-1 Do you remember the poor little kid from Harrison high who got suspended for being patriotic? Well the poor little kid is a LIAR. After going a little deeper in the story, we found out that the new school board member, Ted Griffen, was using the story to his advantage. He was telling everyone that if they chose him, none of this would ever happen and that everything was going to be ok. LIAR! It turns out to be that the “the poor little kid” was trying to get kicked out of Margaret Narwin’s class just because he didn’t like his grade on the class, and because he didn’t have a passing grade, he couldn’t tryout for the track team. Awww poor kid! Why don’t you just act up like the man that you are, well at least that you are supposed to be. They all say that he was being patriotic and singing our beautiful national anthem but first, he was not even singing, he was humming loudly and disruptive, and second, he doesn't even know the words to the national anthem! But there is more. The parents, who are supposed to take care of your kid, educate him, rule the house were NOT doing their job. It turns out to be that everything that poor little Phillip told them, they believed it without even going and asking for details! HA HA that makes me laugh. It’s ironic! Neighbors say that the night after they sent all the postcards and letters to Phillip they had a party! Then, Phillip told his parents that he didn’t like the school and that he was being bullied too much so baby Phillip wanted to change schools! He finally convinced his parents about the changing-school- situation and they wasted all his college money on Phillips private school. RIDICULOUS! Lesson learned: don’t trust newspaper articles or any article before figuring out the REAL situation.
