Review of ITS/IG Activity March 15, 2013 WP29/ITS Informal Group Takao Onoda Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan Document No. ITS (21st ITS, 15 March 2013, agenda item 3)

ITS/IG Activity - from the report : ITS  The fields that are not covered by corresponding GRs or the subjects that requires strategic examinations.  The fields that may be discussed between more than one GRs.  The fields that would be appropriate to take necessary actions although technological basis is not yet sufficiently mature.

Outcome of ITS/IG so far  Common Understanding for ADAS : classified as information, warning, control  Warning Guidelines : adopted at 154 th session of WP29, June, 2011, and have been taken into account when establishing new rules.  Control Principles : proposed at 157 th session of WP29, June, 2012, scheduled that WP29 would make final review at its March 2013 session

Technology Development - Information and Warning - Past  In-vehicle information systems  High-priority warning systems Present Internet, GPS information and warning systems Issue : To what extent is it allowable for driver to use high-tech gadgets during driving ?

Technology Development - Control - Past  Assistance systems : ACC, LDWS, AEBS, LKS  High-auto systems : ACC + LKS, etc. Present Rapid and diverse development in ADAS Issue : To what extent can we introduce automation systems into vehicle handling ?
