Welcome National Junior Honor Society Members First of all….congratulations on being a member of the NJHS! You should feel very honored and proud to be a part of this national organization.

What is the National Junior Honor Society? The NJHS is a national organization of students who have been nominated by their teachers based on their grades and outstanding personal qualities. You are a member of the Fulmore Chapter of the NJHS because last year you earned a 3.5 or higher GPA and your teachers gave you high scores for your personal qualities-such as leadership, character, service, and citizenship.

Why is it so great to be an active member of the NJHS? You are now a member of a very prestigious group of students in America. Students all over our country are recognized for their high achieving qualities by being a member. If you maintain your status as a NJHS member throughout middle school-you may then be eligible to be a member of the National Honor Society in high school. Did I mention that colleges love this society??

How do you stay an active member of the NJHS? Be sure this year you do the following: Watch your grades! You need to still have a 3.5 or higher GPA at the end of this year. 2. Show excellent behavior in your classes and other school activities…your teachers will be looking at your personal qualities again! 3. Complete your 10 hours of volunteer hours by April 30, 2014.

What?!? Volunteer hours?? Yes!…in order to remain a member of the NJHS and the NHS all members have to complete a determined number of volunteer hours each year. -Volunteer work is defined as charitable or helpful work done without pay. -You need to earn 10 hours of volunteer work by the end April .

How can I get my volunteer hours?? 4. Church events-helping with your church events or doing any volunteer work through the church will count. 5. Nursing homes throughout the city need volunteers
