So why are simple step equations important ??????? These equations are the foundation of Algebra and there for are used everyday by all people (whether they might know it or not.)For example many jobs use these equations to help them find unknown information.

How do you solve simple step equations? Well its simple! But first you have to keep a few things in mind. First of all, your trying to isolate X. Second, since your trying to isolate X, you have to do the opposite operation to cancel out the number by x. Last but not least, whatever you do to one side you have to do to the other. NOTES: Solving One Step Equations

Example: Step: 9 = 3 + X * To isolate the X you must subtract the 3 form both sides (remember what you do to one 9-3=X side you must apply to the other) 6=X *You are done 9 = 3+6 *Actually not yet, you still 9 = 9 have to to check your answer. You do that by plugging in 6 for X Notes: Solving One Step Equations

One step equations are the basis of ALL of algebra. You use it any almost every equation you might learn Such as graphing, solving inequalities, adding and Subtracting polynomials, rate and coin problems..etc!

Professions ; Almost any profession uses simple step equations. For example: A flight attendant, cashier, doctor, scientists, and One the most important professions teachers of any kind (especially algebra teachers)

A real life example: A kid buys a stuffed animal for x amount of dollars. If the kid hands the cashier dollars and the cashier hands back dollars how much does the stuffed animal cost? = x X = 5.00 The stuffed animal cost 5.00 dollars!
