Presentation transcript:

Theme s One to one tuition for numerous subjects provided by dedicated in school learning mentor along with pastoral support. Subject materials and teaching style reformatted tailored both to the individual and to achieving success in examination. External tutor brought in to strengthen home link and assist predominantly with confidence building, organisational skills and planning. Dedicated PP form times run by learning mentor for pastoral support and preparation for the day. Additional revision sessions provided Exam materials, food drink and transport provided where necessary Support with post 16 provided; linking students up with places in further education, assisting in writing CV’s and providing references

Formerly: Off target in English and Science Poor behaviour ranging from complete apathy to exclusions for verbal abuse of staff Following Interventions: Very active approach to learning; questioning, engaging with teachers, evidencing knowledge acquired beyond the classroom Independently pursues revision activities Polite, hard working, visibly interested in the prospect evidencing skills through academic success Reaching C target for English and Science

Formerly: Serious developmental shortcomings, evident in written and verbal communication Timid in the extreme, often unable to speak audibly even when alone with an adult, total lack of self worth and confidence Predicted E in Science Following Interventions: Speaks openly and comfortably to adults and students Appears happy and confident in class and working independently from subject areas she felt entirely alienated from. On track for C in Science

Formerly: Total lack of knowledge, insufficient capacity and motivation to begin accessing studies Predicted D for History and Science Following Interventions: Enormous and enormously rapid increase in subject knowledge base Well organised and engaged in independent revision, evidently more comfortable around study and testing On track for C in History and Science

Formerly: Highly confrontational, routinely absent and poorly behaved Inclined to resist anything associated with authority, for example refusing to sit exams Predicted D in Science Following Intervention: Improved attendance and hugely improved attitude toward learning Pursues revision independently and displays remarkably fast comprehension of new ideas Attends exams and engages constructively with them On target for a C in Science and B in English
