What will I study?

Single Honours Programmes Single Honours English

Combined Honours Programmes English and History English and Geography Flexible Combined Honours (30 credits in English)

Year 1 CORE MODULES: Foundations Shakespeare and the History of Ideas Reinventions Critical Theory

Year 2: Breadth and Depth Four modules: two before 1800 and two after 1800 Modules cover the history of English literature and culture from the early Renaissance to the 21st century SH students only (CH students may select modules as options)

Level 3: Specialisation Option Modules: Witchcraft, Magic, & Gender in Literature Places and Journeys Sex, Scandal, and Sensation in Victorian Literature The Gothic Tolkien: Scholar, Critic, Writer Dissertation Students choose own topics Individual supervision The culmination of the degree

How will I study?

Teaching methods: Lectures (30-85 students) Seminars (10-16 students) Study Groups (6 students) Tutorials (1-to-1 support) We are committed to offering 10 contact hours a week in Year 1
