To Parent’s Night at St. Peter’s Primary School. *Healthy and Happy! *Juicy and Fruity! *It’s all about health!

A Healthy School In St. Peter’s Primary School, we place emphasis on working towards a healthy lifestyle. We do this by: Encouraging our children to eat a healthy breakfast before coming to school. Discussing what constitutes a healthy breakfast. Having healthy snacks available at all times on the tuck shop trolley.

Our School Helps us to keep Healthy!  Over the years, our school has made many changes to encourage us to make the right choices in life. Here are just some of them: Dinner hall – Hungry for Success Campaign. Healthy tuck – drinks and snacks. Health days. Providing us with fruit three times a week. Playground games. Active schools activities and after school sports clubs.

Healthy Snacks!

Unhealthy Snacks:  Although it is important to have a little sugar and fat in our diets, we must try not to eat too many unhealthy things for our snacks and lunches. Unhealthy snacks include: Chocolate Bars. Fizzy Drinks. Ice lollies. Crisps. Sweeties. What they can do to our body: They can make us gain weight. Our teeth can become rotten. Unhealthy snacks can make you feel ill.

Healthy Snacks:  We must eat a balanced diet, to help keep us healthy and fit.  We need to eat a variety of protein, carbohydrates, dairy foods and fruit & vegetables.  Healthy snacks are available in our Tuck shop and in the canteen.  St. Peter’s has very healthy and delicious lunches, so go on and try them!

Healthy Ideas!!  Homemade soup, in a flask!  Fresh fruit kebabs.  Fruit yoghurts.  Wholemeal bread.  Fruit smoothies.  Salad wraps.  Squares of cheese.  Tuna or chicken pasta.  Nutrigrain bars.  Fresh fruit salads.  Carrot sticks.  Baked, not fried crisps.

Let’s get Physical!!  Have a look at out Active Schools board, Steven organises lots of fun and healthy activities for us to enjoy, such as: the running club, street dance and basketball.

Follow Our Rules…… or else!!!!  Please listen to St. Peter’s healthy eating campaign.  If you try to be healthy now, it will help you in later life.  Keep fit and have your 5 a day.  Try to choose healthy snacks.  Keep your teeth clean and healthy.  You may have some sugary snacks, but not too many!!

Many Thanks!  Thank you to Primary 7 for helping St. Peter’s to produce this informative presentation.  Thank you to Mrs Docherty for help with the presentation.  Thank you to Primary 6 who designed and created their own information leaflets, posters and display.  Thank you to the Pupil council for their input and support.

Please listen to our message and help us make the right choices in life. Remember: A healthy child, is a happy child!
