Specifically, the Mission is to provide the volunteer committees in the Regions with the necessary resources to engage the members locally, to support them with their professional development and to reach out to non-members, industry, universities and schools with the aim of promoting the Institution and the profession.” Revised 2014 (TB approved March 2014) The RSB Mission

Improving the world through engineeringwww.imeche.orgImproving the world through engineering 7  The Regional Strategy Working Group (No Longer existing?) recommended the following key objectives for the volunteer network to focus on for the year 2014/2015.  Engagement (SO1 and SO2) Engage the members, of all grades, in their Regions and Areas with appropriate activities and events organised by the volunteers for the benefit of their local members.  Development (SO1 and SO2) Work with the IMechE’s Business Development Managers (BDMs) and with industry contacts to mentor and encourage aspiring members with the aim of promoting membership of the IMechE, and to provide a local element of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for existing members.  Outreach (SO3 and SO4) Act as ambassadors for the IMechE locally by encouraging outreach activities in the Regions whereby volunteers will work directly, or through other bodies, to project a positive image of the Institution and the profession.  Education (SO5) Where appropriate, in support of the Institution’s Education theme, and with careful co-ordination through specialists, provide advice and encouragement to students at all stages of education with the aim of increasing the numbers taking STEM subjects in local schools. Improving the world through engineeringwww.imeche.orgImproving the world through engineering 8 IMechE Regional Strategic Objectives, Regional Planning – 2014/2015 Basis of 2014/2015 Regional Business Plans and Budgets SOInstitution Strategic Objectives 2014 Regional Objectives and KPIs (RSB Annual Report and Trustee Board 14 May 2014) Specific Regional and Area Objectives as developed by the RSB Working Group and approved by Trustee Board on 23rd April 2014 SO1 Diversify and grow professional membership in UK and internationally Work with IMechE's Business Development Managers (BDMs) and with Industry contacts to mentor and encourage aspiring members with the aim of promoting membership of the IMechE, and to provide a local element of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for existing members SO2 Increase member engagement and value to members and their employers Focus on improving engagement of EngTech’s. KPI Hold a minimum of 2 EngTech relevant events per region with an overall objective of engaging 500 EngTech’s across all regions To increase member engagement through their events and activities. KPI: to achieve member attendance at Regional events 15% greater than 2013 levels Engage the members of all grades, in their Regions and Areas with appropriate activities and events organised by volunteers for the benefit of their local members SO3 Provide expert leadership to Government, Industry, Members and the informed public on Engineering To engage with local government and raise the profile of the Institution. KPI Minimum of 1 MP interaction (i.e. meeting, event, etc) per Region; potentially in collaboration with other PEI’s / stakeholders and IMechE HQ Act as Ambassadors for the IMechE locally by encouraging outreach activities in the Regions whereby volunteers will work directly, or through other bodies, to project a positive image of the Insititution and the Profession SO4 Develop awareness of engineering and profile of the IMechE Continue to engage non-members (and specifically potential members). KPI Non-member attendance at Regional events to be 15% greater than 2013 SO5Inspire young people about engineering Broaden engagement with young potential future engineers and members. KPI Each Region to hold / arrange a minimum of 2 school, college or university events to promote education amongst 18 year olds.” Where appropraite, in support of the Institution's Education theme, and with careful co-ordination through specialists, provide advice and encouragement to students at all stages of eductaion with the aim of increasing the number taking STEM subjects in local schools SO6Secure long-term financial position

This allows flexibility for each region, whilst ensuring consistency of reporting.  A summary of these Regional Plans and Budgets are presented later.
