Ms. Leake Teaching Kindergarten for 9 years. Undergrad & Masters Vacation: Branson, Mo 2 girls: Aaliyah and Georgia Dogs to the right →

Fun Facts About This Class: 23 kids in this class (most I’ve ever had was 25) 65% of the kids in this class are girls (15 & 8) We have two Matthews and two McKinzee (different spellings)

Morning Drop Off Bus: Students will be dropped off at front entrance. Teachers will help them find the gym & cafeteria when they enter. Boys & Girls Club: Students are in the cafeteria from 6:30-7:30. At 7:30 students can either have breakfast or go to the gym where they are supervised by teachers until 8:00 when their teacher picks them up.

Morning Drop Off Car Riders: – Doors 7:30 – Pull in to the side entrance – Go all the way down to the cone. – Have child exit vehicle on sidewalk side and walk to the doors. – 7:40 adult will be outdoors to greet students. – If you want to walk child in, you need to park in one of the parking spaces.

Morning (7:30-8:00) Students can come to school as early as 7:30. 7:30 Breakfast is served. Students can have breakfast 7:45 sit in Gym with 2 teachers supervising. 8:00 Students go to their classroom when their teacher picks them up from the gym. If student arrives after 8:15, they are considered tardy and should check in with the office before heading to the classroom.

Lunch 11:10 Students can bring their lunch or buy ( Kindergarten only gets hot lunch only for first Quarter.) First week teachers will be eating with students so you may want to do hot lunches during this time so they can learn how to go through the line!

Dismissal Car Riders- Students wait in Gym. There are three lines, pull all the way down. Teachers help students find their cars and call for your child. You need to have blue cards in car window in order to collect child from car rider line. If you do not, you will have to park car and go in to the office to have child called for pick up. Bus Riders- Students walk to the bus with teacher Boys & Girls Club- Students walk to the cafeteria with Boys and Girls Club representative.

Daily Folder Your child should have their Daily Folder in their backpack every day! Child is responsible for keeping folder organized. Side pockets say “Leave at Home” or “Return to School” Clear sleeve marked “READING LOG”- write title & author of books read at home. Will be collected monthly and go towards Book It program (starts Oct.) & End of the year Reading Certificate. Clear sleeve marked “Clip Chart Behavior” your child will record the color they received for the day.

Behavior Clip Chart: When your child arrives at school they will start their day on green. If they exhibit good behaviors by following class/school rules then they get to clip up. If students choose to exhibit undesirable behaviors they get a verbal warning to help them correct the behavior. If student choses not to listen to the warning and change the behavior they will be asked to clip down. Students can move up and down throughout the day. Whatever color they end on is the color the have on the behavior chart.

Example of End of the Year Math Able to count Do simple addition & subtraction independently with objects/pictures Recognize penny, nickel, dime quarter and how much they are worth. Skip count by 5s and 10s 3D objects: cylinder, cube, cone, etc. Simple fractions

Homework No assigned homework. Teacher may send home review work and it is at your descression on whether you finish it. Any work sent home with a future date in the corner needs to be completed and returned by that date.

Birthday/Snack Birthday Any birthday treat handed out has to be store bought. 2:20 is typically when we hand out the treats NO party invitations at school. (Check buzz book for addresses/phone numbers to contact other children in regards to parties) Snack Healthy snacks No messy snacks such as apple sauce No soda or candy Rule of thumb- if it needs a napkin/spoon it probably is too messy for a classroom daily snack.

Other Considerations: Have an extra change of clothes in a bag at the bottom of backpack. Last name on backpack, jacket, or lunch boxes. If your child has any medical needs that concerns you for the year and have not been addressed, please visit the nurse. Consider tennis shoes for your child at school.
