Directions Copy the following statements and rate them on a scale of 1 to 5. One means you strongly disagree, five means you strongly agree. Three would mean you were unsure or neutral on the topic. Write a one sentence rationale explaining why you scored each statement the way you did. The statements are all related to the Expo unit we are about to start on Language, Gender, and Culture.

Statements: 1. I have a hard time communicating with people who don’t speak my language. 2. All people in America should learn to speak English. 3. Body language can say much more than the words that are spoken. 4. There are jobs that are just better suited for men. 5. All people who do equal work deserve equal pay. 6. I would not want my future son to wear pink clothes or play with Barbies. 7. I don’t like the way toys are sold and packaged for specific genders.

Statements (continued) 8. There are chores in the home that are better suited for women. 9. I know about my family history and the country/countries I originate from. 10. My family has recipes that have been passed down for generations. 11. I am proud of my race/nationality. 12. I am proud to be American. 13. I appreciate learning about cultures outside of my own. 14. Culture includes things like food, music, and clothing style. 15. Culture is very closely tied to religion.
