First Amendment Freedom of religion Freedom of speech Freedom of the press Right to assemble Right to petition

Second Amendment Right to bear arms (own guns)

Third Amendment Citizens do not have to house soldiers without their permission

Fourth Amendment Protects your privacy from unreasonable searches and seizure of property Police must have probable cause to search

Fifth Amendment Cannot be tried for the same crime twice (double jeopardy) Cannot be forced to testify against yourself Guaranteed the right to due process Eminent domain allows the government to take private property for public use, but the owners must be compensated

Sixth Amendment The accused have the right To be formally charged with a crime To a speedy trial by jury To an attorney

Seventh Amendment Civil cases can be decided by a jury if the settlement is over $20

Eighth Amendment Protection from cruel and unusual punishment for crimes

Ninth Amendment Citizens have more rights than those listed in the Bill of Rights
