WHAT IS SCIENCE WORD WALL PART 2

REPETITION Making multiple sets of measurements or observations in a scientific investigation. Running through the experiment and collecting data more than once.

REPLICATION The reproduction of a scientific investigation by another person to ensure accuracy. Working through another scientist’s experiment (and getting the same results).

DATA Measurements or observations collected and recorded in an experiment or investigation. Examples-Data Table, Bar Graph, Line Graph

PREDICTION What you think will happen under certain conditions based on data or observation. What you think will happen in your experiment.

CONCLUSION A statement that tells what an investigation showed, based on observations and data.

SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL A scientific publication (like a magazine) where scientists publish experiments. This is a way other scientists can find experiments to replicate. It is a way scientists communicate with other scientists. A “good” experiment is one that can be replicated. Science can be repeated, replicated, and communicated.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD A series of steps used to answer questions in science. Under examples-write the steps of the scientific method.
