Course Description 2 EMGT 461 – Global Project Management, Spring Semester 2012 The emphasis of this course is global project management. URM is collaborating with instructors from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia; Nanyang Technical University, Singapore; Tsinghua University, China; and Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore, Indian to provide lectures on cultural and project management nuances of their respective countries. Four of the lectures will be taught by these international instructors. In depth and advanced topics in project management including project management methodologies, strategic planning for excellence, project portfolio management, integrated processes, culture, and behavioral excellence; normally includes a hands-on group project.

Class Policies and Evaluation 5 EMGT 461 – Global Project Management, Spring Semester 2012 Group Project: Teams consisting of 3 and 4 will select a work related international project. The Course Project is divided into 2 phases, (1) Introduction, Purposes and Scope will be presented on March 19; (2) End Product and Approaches will be presented on April 30. Designated members of the team are expected to make presentations to the class but the entire team will be responsible for submitting a written report for each project. The project will be a team effort that should challenge your management and leadership skills. Class Participation and Assignments: You are expected to participate in the class discussions. Accommodations will be made for students who need to miss class due to work related assignments. Class assignments are to be turned in on time., and due on the next session. Late assignments will be given, at most, half credit.
