The meaning

Matthew version And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” 23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “ Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters 'table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! I am too sinful, how can a Holy God ever forgive a person like me? It is a refusal to accept God’s favor on the basis of mercy. A heart that says, “if I haven’t earned it, I won’t take it as a gift!” is as deeply self- righteous as the heart of a proud Pharisee. Tim Keller

What sign would have been enough for them? What sign would have been enough for them? Why didn’t Jesus give them another sign? Why didn’t Jesus give them another sign? Once we have abundant evidence, any demand for “proof” is really a way to avoid commitment.

They had already made up their minds and their assumptions and pressupositions act as filters to explain away all of Jesus evidence They do not believe because they do not want to believe, there have been enough miracles Evidence that removes uncertainty so much that there is no need for risk or commitment.
