When Did Jesus Die?  The days then go as follows  Sunday – Jesus enters Jerusalem, looks around the Temple, and returns to Bethany.  Monday – As Jesus returns to Jerusalem, He curses the fig tree and then returns to Bethany.  Tuesday – On the way back to Jerusalem, the disciples find the fig tree withered and receive Jesus’ explanation, as well as the Olivet discourse (prophesy is the theme), and He returns to Bethany. Christ our Passover  All of that to say, “Why did Jesus enter Jerusalem as He did on Palm Sunday?”  The crucifixion occurred on the 14 th of Nissan. If that was a Thursday, we can count back to Palm Sunday and place it on the 10 th of Nissan.  This is important because it would have been on that day that each family would have chosen the Passover lamb in order to keep it for the required three days in their homes.
