Accept One Another ROMANS 15:7-9 DREW KORSCHOT

Three reasons why we are to accept one another in the church: 1.Christ accepted us. (v. 7)

“Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.” ROMANS 14:1

“While black Christians were invited to participate in church and denominational life, particularly in the North, such interaction was rarely viewed as an opportunity to socialize as one’s equal. Designated seating, the inability to participate at a core leadership level, and the lack of voting privileges served as constant reminders of their degraded second-class citizenship.” RICHARD WILLIS

“…accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us…” ROMANS 15:7

“Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” LUKE 15:2

“Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.” ROMANS 15:7

“An argument started among them as to which of them might be the greatest. But Jesus, knowing what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side, and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.” LUKE 9:46-48

“For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers…” ROMANS 15:8

“…and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy; as it is written, “Therefore I will give praise to You among the Gentiles, And I will sing to Your name.” ROMANS 15:9

“Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?” When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.” ACTS 11:17

“Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.” COLOSSIANS 4:5-6

The purpose of this message: for you to live in unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ by accepting one another in the church.

“So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.” LUKE 15:20

“‘Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours…but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’” LUKE 15:29
