SOLAR ENERGY AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN MURCIA By Isaac David Benhaimoud
WHAT´S SOLAR ENERGY? It´s the energy produced by the sun and can be freely exploited by mankind as it is clean and renewable.
FORMS OF USE There are two ways to use solar energy, photovoltaic and thermal. Among its advantages: -It’s inexhaustible. -It doesn’t pollute. -It requires little maintenance. -It’s got a long life (over 30 years). -It withstands extreme weather conditions. -Its installation is simple. Among the disadvantages: -It’s got a high installation cost.
PHOTOVOLTAIC It consists of obtaining electricity from solar radiation by photovoltaic cells. The generator captures sunlight and converts it into electrical energy, which can be consumed or assign it to the grid.
THERMAL Photo-thermal systems convert solar radiation into heat and transfer it to a working fluid. The heat is then used to heat buildings, water, power turbines...
SOLAR ENERGY IN SPAIN Spain is one of the leading world powers of solar energy, along with the U.S., Israel and Australia. Currently solar PV represents 1.9% of the energy consumed in Spain.
SOLAR ENERGY IN MURCIA Murcia autonomous community is the fifth that produces most solar energy, after Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Extremadura and Castilla y León. It also has some of the largest solar plants in Spain as Hoya Solar Park Los Vincentes (Jumilla), The photovoltaic plant of Calasparra, Solar Power Plant Solar Plant Alamo or Lorca.
