Using the LHS Course Planning Guide Lynnwood High School Course Planning Guide

Using the LHS Course Planning Guide  The Course Planning Guide is only available online through the Lynnwood High School Website.  The following slides will show you where to find it and how to use it to help you choose the classes you want.

Where to find the LHS Course Planning Guide Go to the LHS website Go to the LHS website and click on the “Counseling” tab. Then select LHS Course Planning Guide.

A tip for finding information: When the Planning Guide opens, find what you are looking for by using the “Search” or “Find” function of your browser.

For example, to find information on course Graphic Arts 1, type it in and hit “search.”

All instances of Graphic Arts 1 appear and you can click on each item. Notice the first one takes you to the LHS Course Summary.

This one takes you to the Course Description.

Using the LHS Course Planning Guide Figure out where you stand with requirements (chart on page 6).

Using the LHS High School Planning Guide Figure out where you stand with requirements (chart on page 6). Remember: Once you complete an area, additional credits in that area are applied to “Electives” (ex. After you have 1.0 credits in Art, additional Art credits go to Electives). In some instances, you may be able to use an equivalency to meet a requirement (ex. 2.0 Sports Med credit can be used for 1.0 PE credit.); see your counselor with questions. Check your LHS graduation requirements against the requirements to apply to a four year college. There are some differences…

College Admission Requirements Minimum College Admission Standards College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADR) English 4 credits Math 3 credits Sr.-year math-based quantitative course1 credit* Science – Lab2 credits** Social Science3 credits World Language2 credits Arts1 credit Total 15 credits * Beginning with the class of 2012 and beyond, Quantitative Math-based course required in senior year; does not require higher level Math than current admissions policy. * Beginning with the class of 2010 and beyond, one credit of Algebra-based Science required for college admission. There is more information on college admission requirements in the Planning Guide.
