Election Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860 He was elected to the Illinois General Assembly. On the ballot in North Carolina Lincoln wasn’t a nominee cause most North Carolinians didn’t like him. But he still won with 1,865,908 votes and 180 electoral votes. He is the 16 th president of the United States.

Gettysburg Address President Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address on November 19, It was 272 words and took 3 minutes to give the speech. “… That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that is government of the people, by the people, for the people, that shall not parish from this earth.” This was part of his speech. He wrote it after the Gettysburg Battle.
