Lincoln and his family were attending a play at Ford’s Theater the night of the assassination.
He was a strong believer in slavery and white supremacy. He was born and raised in Maryland and later became a super famous actor.
Booth had slipped into the entryway into the president’s box when the guard left to get a better view of the play. Booth shot Lincoln six inches from his head and the bullet hit his head right behind the left ear and tore through his brain.
Lincoln died at 7:22 the next morning. Some of the nation lined up along the tracks to say their good-byes. Lincoln was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.
