-----A Legend Story

Through the history Through the times Too many people tell us their story Today, let us see the story of Abraham Lincoln…

His life (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) His birth Born: February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky, United States His death: April 14, 1865 in Washington, DC, United States Occupation: president The commemoration

When he was a baby……

Social and family background Abraham lincoin was born in a cabin in Hardin County,Kentucky,on February 12th,1809. His mother,Nancy, died when he was nine, and the family moved to indiana. Then, his father Thomas Lincoin married Sarah Bush Johnston, who encouraged Abraham’s education. In 1830,when he was 21 years old,his family moved again, this time to lllinois. He joind the lllinois militia during the Black Hawk War. In 1834,at age of 24,he was elected as a Whig and served for terms.

After receiving his law License in 1836,he married Mary Todd on November 4 th,1842. In 1847,he was elected and served one term in the U.S.House of Represeentatives. He changed his political alliance to the Republican Party in 1856.

As a grown-up…… Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865.

Fellow-Citizens of the United States:In compliance with a custom as old as the Government itself, I appear before you to address you briefly and to take in your presence the oath prescribed by the Constitution of the United States to be taken by the President before he enters on the execution of this office." I do not consider it necessary at present for me to discuss those matters of administration about which there is no special anxiety or excitement. Apprehension seems to exist among the people of the Southern States that by the accession of a Republican Administration their property and their peace and personal security are to be endangered. There has never been any reasonable cause for such apprehension. Indeed, the most ample evidence to the contrary has all the while existed and been open to their inspection. It is found in nearly all the published speeches of him who now addresses you. I do but quote from one of those speeches when I declare that-- I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so. Those who nominated and elected me did so with full knowledge that I had made this and many similar declarations and had never recanted them; and more than this, they placed in the platform for my acceptance, and as a law to themselves and to me, the clear and emphatic resolution which I now read: 林肯竞选总统时的演讲词

As a grown-up…… "Standing beneath this serene sky, overlooking these broad fields now reposing from the labors of the waning year, the mighty Alleghenies dimly towering before us, the graves of our brethren beneath our feet, it is with hesitation that I raise my poor voice to break the eloquent silence of God and Nature. But the duty to which you have called me must be performed; — grant me, I pray you, your indulgence and your sympathy." Gettysburg Address

As a grown-up…… He successfully led his country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. the American Civil War

As a grown-up……

On April 14th,1865 at Ford’s Theatre in Washington,DC., Abraham Lincoin was shot by John Wilkes-Booth.He died on April 15th from the wound.
