Update on the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Pharmacy October 30, 2006 NEO Regional Leadership Taskforce Regional Day

A Unique Educational Partnership The College of Pharmacy for four universities: –The University of Akron –Kent State University –Youngstown State University –Cleveland State University Partnering with existing hospitals and health care providers throughout northeastern Ohio Non-duplicative; only College of Pharmacy in the eastern half of the state

Student Population: (approximate) Masters Degrees: Doctoral Degrees: UA 23, KSU 36, YSU 13, CSU 16, University Statistics

Training Ohio’s Health Care Professionals Interdisciplinary training: A national priority. Professionals are trained in isolation, then expected to work as a team. Goal: Improved patient outcomes and reduction in medical errors.

Expanded Role of the Pharmacist Pharmacists more actively involved in direct patient care. As population ages, the demand for well- trained pharmacists increases.
