High School Equipment Lending Library High schools can borrow biotechnology equipment for selected labs to use in Advanced Biology, AP Biology or Forensics beginning in 2011 Bio-Rad PCR Instructional Lab Package 2 Bio-Rad lab kits with each package  Kits support up to 32 students with 8 stations Include reagents needed for labs Valued at over $7,000 Training January 25-27th, 2011 and summer workshops Kits available to teachers after training

Hudson Valley Community College Science Center Dedicated labs Cell Culture Proteins and Immunology Nucleic Acids (RNA & DNA) Dedicated bio- manufacturing suite Simulated cGMP environment Similar to FDA- designed facility used to monitor vaccine production The proposed 115,000 square foot Science Center will house Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

Meeting Needs of Employers and Employees New entry level laboratory jobs opening in Capital Region companies that partner with Hudson Valley Community College Workforce Development to begin in 2011 with adult evening classes to retrain unemployed or displaced workers in biotechnology and biomanufacturing laboratory procedures Starting salary with Associate’s Degree in Capital Region: $28,000 - $38,000 per year plus benefits – (health insurance, stock options, life insurance and tuition assistance)
